Making Better Albums

Last week, we featured Danilo and Sharon’s reflections book we were inundated with responses asking more about the album world. The perfect opportunity to scream from the roof, “An album is opportunity to build your world.” Something customers and clients will notice in your feeds which takes your brand from ‘pretty nice photos’ to ‘here’s my vibe and world and let me invite you into it’.

Books in homes have become a big deal. We’ve all seen that Tom Ford book on too many coffee tables and spied those colourful Assouline books on every shop shelf. Designed to be seen, felt, experienced and be the perfect finishing touch to a space. Proser Assouline himself summed it up:

“Books are object because you need to live with them. It's not just about what is inside but also the outside. It's part of your life, your decoration and the ambience of your life.” See more from Assouline for some good album inspo.

Make something better

But here we are, stuck offering our clients the same boring brown leather covers, maybe linen at a push? The couples name and date embossed on the front with some nice typography, if you are lucky. We can do better. It could be a custom cover to match our brand. A unique sleeve to house the album. A concept around the album that shows your vibe. Editorial and edgy fashion? Alternative and loud? Romantic and beautiful? What is your brands world?

• Tiptoeing around churches during the ceremony? Wedding photographers in the UK this week signed a huge petition to call on vicars to stop 'rude' and 'aggressive' behaviour.

• Behind with your editing? This photographer is trying to make amends after not delivering wedding photos for two years.

• Will content creators take your job? The Wed weighed in on content creation at weddings.

• 17 Weddings on one SD card? Sandisk released the world’s first 4TB SD card. Crazy. They say never do public math, but this means you could shoot roughly 85 thousand photos from a Canon R5. At an average of 5000 images a wedding, that’s 17 weddings on one card…

• For the hybrid shooter. New releases from DJI this week included the new RS4 gimbal with LiDAR focussing.

• Magic Editing. You can now use generative fill with video. Adobe extends their AI magic to Premiere Pro.

• On the back of NYBFW 2024. We love seeing bridal designers work with photographers to create campaigns that really stand out and push boundaries. Like the latest campaign from bridal designer Danielle Frankel.
