• Adele Engaged. Adele announced her engagement this week. But the real question is: who is going to land that wedding? PS let us know if you do 😉 

• More new film cameras soon! MiNT announced last year that they were producing a new 35mm film camera under the name Rollei 35AF. Well it’s finally a reality with pre orders announced to be opening on September 10th! Get ready 🎞️

• The guests are important too. Love this post from The Friend Club curating some classy guest outfit photos and reminding us of the importance of capturing these kinds of images.

⚫️ Bye photobooths, hey classy portraits.

Not a photobooth - better.
We’ve seen a new thing happening in the wedding space. The evolution of the photobooth. Thank goodness too…
Moving from that low qual, ‘put the funny glasses on’, cheesy old set up. To a classy, cool and elegant portrait set up like this by Blanc Portraits, touted the “Vanity fair style photobooth.”

Started up by some long time legend wedding photographers, it’s a unique concept with a very cool photo concept/vibe. It’s the new generation photobooth. Based in Australia, but available through Europe this year. So support them and get them along to a wedding with you. We have also seen Portraits on White doing a similar thing in North America. LOVE IT.

Do It Yourself?
One of the easiest ways to increase your income is to add on up sells and services. Extra hours, extra photos, albums, (content creation?) How about a portrait service add on in this style? Can you see something like this fitting into your wedding offerings?

2️⃣0️⃣ The New Limit

First the big one. 
We can now finally share more than 10 photos on Instagram! No more agonising about how to show off the whole day, spending waaay too long deciding what should go into your 10 photos. Now you can post it all…

We’ve seen a few cool examples of these longer scroll posts this week from Haute Weddings and Colin Ross. But just because you can…Should you? The short answer is yes.
Here’s why.

1. Firstly, Instagram loves when you use new features and often you’ll see more reach when doing so. So get posting. Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri talks about ‘best practices’ here which includes using all the new features.

2. More is more. Instagram is basically a portfolio at this stage and for many wedding photographers the first place where brides and planners discover and look through your work. So show it off! You don’t need to worry about posting too much when you can just add in way more photos to each post. Win. BONUS: We love to think about building your portfolio like ‘building a world’. You can see our reel on that here.

   

The death of the square.
Since Instagram began, feeds have always been square. So shocker, Instagram has begun a trial to change that! Some users this week have had their feeds change to a portrait orientation. That is a 4×3 ration or 1350px by 1080px. While this may be a welcome change to those of us who love everything portrait always… It is going to change a lot of how your home feeds looks in the future. So it’s something to keep in mind when posting right now.
